Our Purpose and Motivation:
The goal of Harvesting Our Future community projects is to revitalize and further develop Hinckley’s local economy, making the village more attractive for businesses, visitors, and residents. We are extremely grateful to the DeKalb County Community Foundation (DCCF) for providing Hinckley with this incredible $20K grant opportunity.
In 2019 the Hinckley Festival Association took on another project that was facilitated through the DCCF Economic Grant. With this grant and the guidance of NIU's Center for Governmental Studies, a strategic plan was created to examine additional ways to help make the Village of Hinckley a place where people desire to live, shop, and maintain a business. The Association supports economic development projects through a group of community volunteers designated as Harvesting Our Future.
There are 3 projects under Harvesting Our Future that a group of hard-working and talented individuals are leading:

Hinckley Hub Website:
We are in the process of working with OC Creative to construct a website to inform readers of Hinckley's offerings.
Digital Signs:
We are working collaboratively with the HBR School District to bring about an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Hinckley taxing-bodies in support of a digital sign at both the HBR High School and the HBR Elementary School.
Mosaic Mural
We have begun work on the mural under the guidance of artist, Danielle Casali. Volunteers are cutting, shaping and placing tile and glass onto the mural pieces. Once completed the mosaic mural will be placed on the west exterior wall of the South Moon BBQ building.
